Wednesday, Dec. 23 - the Coliseum and the Old Forums

We had a nice walk around the place, and were pleasantly surprised when we could get these overviews from the top:

Always a place to fill your water bottles.  Rome water is good!

We spent the whole day here (wouldn't you?), until we were “invited” to leave before dark. Walking up from the coliseum to Cavour Street and up Cavour towards the Cavour Metro station, we saw several meat/cheese/wine places where we decided to come back later to get supplies for our Christmas supper.  We were told that just about everything, even the restaurants, were to be closed for Christmas day.
